Burberry Prorsum Pre Collection Spring 2012 (images courtesy Burberry, and me!)
This tiffany blue leather trench took my breath away twice. First when I saw the images, and then when I saw it live.
The leather is so supple and gorgeous you want to wrap yourself up and live in it forever. I thought it was important to post this shot because in the lookbook photography the red color of the interior seemed much darker than it is really. It’s far closer to a poppy red/orange and it’s very bright which doesnt come through in the Burberry photos.
Obviously the construction is flawless, but there was a bit of an issue with fit. I tried another trench on (perhaps I’ll post it later) and I’m a pretty small person with rather petite elbows I think.. well I couldnt bend or move my arms once they were inside in the sleeves because it was cut so narrowly! Like, cutting of your circulation tight.
The Burberry team mentioned that these are pre production samples and adjustments are always made to fit and even materials sometimes when the style does go into production… so hopefully this revision will be made. I didnt feel too badly about my wide elbows though when I heard that a fit model had accidentally ripped an entire sleeve off a leather piece while trying to get into or out of it the day prior.

“Realizing that I was a primarily visual thinker was a significant turning point in my career. Believe it or not, I only realized it last year. Yes, I went to art school and, yes, I have done visually creative things most of my life, but I always assumed that everyone saw images the way I did. But after talking to enough of my friends, colleagues and clients, I realized that wasn’t true. Some people aren’t visual thinkers. Some people think verbally, and some of those people may have a much easier time with writing than I do. But once I realized that, I had a bit of an epiphany: No wonder so many design professionals struggle with writing—they force themselves to start with words rather than the images their mind has already created!
Bingo. If you’re a visual thinker, start with what you know!”
